Former Broward County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputy Scot Peterson was acquitted of all charges based on the events of more than five years ago.
Role model to none, then Deputy Scot Peterson froze, gun drawn, for 37 minutes outside building 1200 on the campus of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL. His failure to act became an emblem of a dereliction of duty and overall police incompetence.
I’ve previously asked, if Peterson had the fortitude to advance on the building, that I’m certain he knew where the shots were coming from, would he have gone one on one with Cruz? In other words, had Peterson not behaved like a coward in the breezeway, would he have saved the day? I believe he would have been at best ineffective.
With all the other demands on law enforcement today, I am glad that the Pandora’s box that Peterson’s prosecutors opened has been shut, at least temporarily. In my opinion, Peterson was nothing more than a scapegoat test case to create case law obligations for officers nationwide. Uvalde officers are next.
Please let me know your thoughts in the open thread. And keep all of our peace officers in your prayers.
Agreed!
"In my opinion, Peterson was nothing more than a scapegoat test case to create case law obligations for officers nationwide."
Can you imagine, though, if you ended your career with this legacy? Hopefully someone is watching him carefully over the next few years.
I pray he finds a community of faith.
Same. He can find healing in the Lord. He is, indeed, the great healer.
BTW, that vid, is a lot of stress being relieved.
He was a scapegoat for politico's incompetence beforehand.
If they can throw him under the bus, they look good.
Kangaroo court.
