i’m the mother of Jovanny Crespo. No one can imagine where our family is going through. It’s been so hard., there’s no justice in Norton, New Jersey, the criminal gets away with murder. My son is doing 27 years in jail never been in trouble a day in his life., while working as a police officer in Newark, he received many recommendations and rewards, my son’s been a coach since he was 12 years old he loved helping in the community feeding the homeless dressing the homeless counseling kids coaching kids, hope to assess pastors in our church, has four children ages between 19 and 12, I’m just praying that my son gets out soon and clemency or appeal, I’m terminally ill This has taking a toll in my health or family lies, and I need the support our our community..

We pray for an appeal for your son. We pray that wise judges will either grant him a new trial or have the case dismissed with prejudice. Keep the faith and get everyone praying.

Thank you so much, but you know what Mr Clee, I am very naïve about all this but, i was thinking why didn’t the Captain stop the pursuit at the first moment my son was pointed a gun and he decided to shoot, when my son did the report they said he didn’t write the

Seriousness and he didn’t write that the gun was pointed at him, but when the captain looked at the report, he told my son the report was done correctly, but they mentioned that at the trail,

his first lawyer the union lawyer was dying of cancer and he didn’t council my son correctly, I wish you could speak to my son, so he can explain to you better, after this case around 4 or 5 police officers decided to quit and they became firefighters, it was sad that Mr. Griffin passed away, but he made a decision not to stop and continue to drive recklessly at the high speed, at the autopsy. The doctor that did the autopsy said Mr. Griffin was high on drugs., both passengers were professional, criminals, nearly all their lives, they flee because the car was stolen They had drugs a gun with bullet that are used to kill police officers. The Mayor had a lot of interest in this case being the Mr Griffin was the mayor sister-in-law‘s boyfriend. She had reported the car stolen and he has pistol whipper her with the gun, the judge made a comment that was out of place. He said that my son got dressed and already had in his mind that he was gonna to kill someone. He also said that Newark police officers shoot first and ask questions later, which I consider that his own opinion and he was out of place. He also said that he was gonna use my Son as an example. He said my son had no remorse. Newark is extremely dangerous. The police officers here in Newark put their life in line 24 seven my son was working one of the worst areas in the city of Newark, the passenger that pointed the gun on my son after he recovered from his injuries he continue doing what he did best even though he was charged for pointed the gun at my son, He was walking the streets like nothing after that he was shot at twice in the same area and survived and he continue dealing and they ran him over and killed them. I just want my son out. His children wants them out. We need him. This is taking a toll on my family.

Thank you for your message. There are more people working on your son's case than you and I know. We continue to pray for justice.

I understand that they had a gun and dope in the vehicle, but why put the community at risk,by chasing these individuals obviously this situation was not going to end well, the community could of gotten hit by a bullet or crashed by the criminals. Sometimes it’s better to just let them go, we have a dead body injured people and an Officer who has been charged with crimes, I believe if your not being shot at,don’t shoot. Being an Officer dosent give you the rite to kill. Shooting inside the car once it stopped, I would of called for back up maybe shot the tires and waited, til reinforcements, Police officers don’t know how to deal with combat situations, honestly I feel like retired vets should be the only individuals qualified for this type of work, military personnel know how to handle these types of situations especially when they have been under fire at war. No matter what these men where up to,it’s still the Officers jobs to protect them even though they’re committing a crime, this why we have judges and prosecutors and laws and prisons, even though I feel our laws should be rewritten.

I don’t think the Officer should be charged for anything or loose his job though, who’s at fault is the state of New Jersey not giving the adequate training to these men and women who want to serve the community, was crespos action rite no, but I feel he should be given more training and suspension and maybe an office job no more street patrols for a long time
