The election has concluded. Donald Trump has been elected as the 47th President of the United States, marking a significant shift in the political landscape. Over the past year, there has been extensive and often heated discussion surrounding the role of law enforcement under a renewed Trump administration. Speculation has run rampant, with some commentators and outlets putting forth dramatic predictions about potential policies, law enforcement dynamics, and the administration's stance on key issues. While much of this conjecture has been fueled by sources claiming insider knowledge or authoritative information, a more grounded perspective can be gained by examining the record of Trump’s first term as president.

This historical context provides valuable insight, effectively dispelling many of the more extreme projections made by publications like Rolling Stone and other mainstream media outlets. Three Positive Moves

Under the incoming administration, we can reasonably expect three key developments that will significantly impact the law enforcement landscape. First, it is likely that the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, a proposed reform bill that has threatened the end of local policing, will be abandoned in the House and the Senate, signaling a shift away from federal intervention in police reform efforts. This is fantastic news that deserves a celebration. Most frontline officers, deputies, and troopers were completely unaware of this very critical threat to local policing, that passed the House twice, and came up every time there was a questionable use of force incident.
