Great article. This encapsulates my frustrations moving more into this evolution of law enforcement. The arrests that need to be made are not, and the ones that are made are done out of line from reasonableness by civilians. It’s so strange...

Some police leaders in my area have started responding like this, even writing op-eds (which IMO appear forced). It does nothing to appease persistent cop critics, yet alienates civilians who value law and order.

There are so many factors attributing to gun violence. Location, how a person is raised, parental guidance and mentoring or the absence of, social programs like after school centers and study groups or the absence of, moral training and religion or the absence of, mental illness, drugs and alcohol, police corruption, and so many other factors. In NYC, there is huge corruption. Corrupt police are counterproductive to addressing crime by setting a horrible example. Cover ups and abuse of power sends a bad message to society, and then society reacts. Arresting teenagers 15 times does not help the problem either. It's a huge complex problem.
